If you’ve never slacklined before, only done a little in a friend’s backyard or even want to relearn some of the basics to get rid of bad techniques from an experienced, qualified Slackline Australia Instructor, then this 4 week course is for you. Run 6-8pm on Friday evenings by the river in West End, this course will get you up and walking in the most time-efficient and safe way possible in a controlled, supervised environment.
The skills learned in this course form the foundation of all disciplines – tricklining, longlining, highlining, yogalining etc.
Next course start: TBA
Where: Orleigh Park, corner of Riverside Drive and Kurilpa St
What you get: During the 8 contact hours you have with the experienced Slackline Australia registered instructor, you’ll learn:
- safe line setup;
- the differences between various slackline kits available on the market;
- techniques for mounting the line, walking, turning and numerous other basic tricks;
- how to analyse your own performance, and the performance of others, and be able to identify common mistakes made by beginner slackliners; and
- where to meet other slackliners in your area.
You’ll also get a complimentary Slackline Academy t-shirt and free access to additional supervised sessions at The Ice Cream Factory Tuesday nights 5-7pm. These additional sessions are intended to compliment the core Monday/Friday sessions, and give an additional opportunity to practice. Participants are not expected to attend every additional session, and will still get full value without attending these additional sessions. Spots in these sessions are strictly limited, so participants of the Basics course are requested to book ahead to ensure there is space available.
For more information on what you’ll learn, check out the supplementary material for this course.
How to sign up: Class sizes are strictly limited, so book early. Contact Dom at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 0415 096 374 with further inquiries, or to secure your spot today.
Wet weather arrangements: a little bit of rain won’t affect sessions too much (we’re all going to get sweaty anyway!), but if things look truly miserable participants will be advised beforehand of session cancellations. In this case, make-up sessions will be organized by group consensus.
Note: this course is intended for participants 18 years and over. If you’d like to participate and are under 18, please contact us in advance and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
